WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR APPOINTMENT

1How do I make an appointment for hypnotherapy?
Simply phone or email Sue at Newcastle Hypnotherapy/SV Counselling Services. She will:
  • ask you some questions about the issues you are having problems with
  • give you an idea of the required number and frequency of sessions
  • provide information about fees and charges
  • answer any questions you have about your issues or about hypnotherapy
  • book your first two appointments.
2What happens after I make my appointments?
An Intake Form will be attached or enclosed with the confirmation for you to complete and bring to your first appointment. You can also download the form.

You will receive a reminder text or email two days prior to each appointment. Simply reply "yes" to the text or email to confirm that you will be attending, or contact Sue to change the appointment. 50% of the fee is payable if less than 24 hours notice is given for cancellation.

3Where is Newcastle Hypnotherapy/SV Counselling Services?
We are located in Newcastle CBD, on Level 6 of a building called Civic Chambers, previously known as the Retireinvest building:
  • The building is close to City Hall, Civic Park and the University of Newcastle City Campus
  • It is on the harbour side of Hunter Street, next to the Advanced Careers College
  • Metered street parking is available, or there are two parking stations within 10 minutes walkA bus stop is located just outside the building, at the corner of Hunter and Auckland Streets
  • There are several coffee shops and cafes nearby.
4What can I expect from my appointment?
An initial appointment is outlined below:
  • Take one of the lifts to Level 6
  • Go to SV Counselling Services on the left side of the corridor
  • Enter the waiting room and make yourself comfortable. Feel free to read the magazines and pour yourself a drink of water while you wait until your appointment time. Sue will greet you, take you into her consulting room and discuss your completed form
  • Sue will work with you to create an individualised plan for therapy to meet your needs, and answer any questions you may have
  • After agreeing to the plan, you will be asked to sign a consent form for hypnotherapy
  • Sue will invite you to sit in her comfortable "therapy chair" for your first session of hypnotherapy
  • You can expect to feel relaxed and comfortable, almost as if you are drifting off to sleep, while Sue uses her professional skills to help you find solutions to the issues that have been troubling you
  • After about half an hour, you will open your eyes and feel relaxed and refreshed. You may be surprised at how easily and effortlessly changes occur in your behaviour and reactions over the following hours, days and weeks.
5 Is there anything I need to remember?
Remember to bring:
  • your completed Intake Form
  • any referral documents
  • your credit/debit card or cash. Payment is required at the end of each appointment. No invoices will be issued.
  • your concession card (if relevant)
  • your Medicare card (if appropriate). Online Medicare claiming is available.
6What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept Cash, Visa and Mastercard. Due to Bank Fees, there is a charge of 2% for cards. Many people choose to pay by Direct Transfer prior to their appointment.

7What if I am running late?
Please let us know if you are running late, however your session will end at the original finish time. This is to minimise inconvenience to your therapist, and to subsequent clients.
